What is the Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology Unit?
Our Unit is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients suffering from various heart diseases, especially ischemic and/or structural. To achieve this, we have medical and nursing personnel accredited at the highest level by both the Spanish Society of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology, as well as the technology necessary to offer optimal solutions to our patients.
What is the activity of the Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology Unit?
In our Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology Unit we try to provide a comprehensive service to our patients, from consultation assessment and clinical follow-up to treatment through the application of interventional techniques and treatments at the highest level.
Our centers have a Hemodynamics Consultation specifically to care for patients. In this consultation we help the patient and their family members understand their pathology and offer them the best alternatives for their treatment. Afterwards, we carry out clinical follow-up in Outpatient Clinics of all our patients.
Among the various pathologies, those that affect coronary blood flow, ischemic heart disease, stand out. For this, we offer a current, effective and safe treatment using cutting-edge technical provisions and materials that allow effective and safe treatment in all types of scenarios. We care from high-risk acute infarctions that require urgent interventions, to patients with advanced and complex chronic coronary disease, such as severely calcified lesions, chronic coronary occlusions, bifurcation lesions, etc. We use complex techniques such as rotational atherectomy, intracoronary lithotripsy, intracoronary imaging, etc.
In addition to coronary pathology, we are also dedicated to what we know as “structural heart disease”, both congenital diseases and degenerative and senile disorders. Thus, we perform percutaneous closures of interatrial communications, patent foramen ovale; We perform left appendage closure, mitral and aortic valvuloplasty, among others. A growing field is percutaneous aortic prosthesis implantation (TAVI).
Another important part of our Unit is Teaching and Research. We currently collaborate with various universities in teaching and training medical students. We are also actively participating in clinical trials and national and international registries.
What is the objective of the Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology Unit?
Our goal is to provide our patients the best treatment and treatment possible, explaining their pathology, showing them the various options and giving them the best recommendations based on scientific evidence and Clinical Practice Guides. Our goal is to closely accompany our patients and their families in the monitoring and/or cure of their pathology, offering the best, most effective and safe treatments.
