The Quirónsalud Barcelona Hospital will hold the II Clinical Application Course of New Developments in Cardiac Imaging

On October 1, 2026 , the Auditorium of the Quirónsalud Barcelona Hospital will host the second edition of the course “Clinical Application of New Developments in Cardiac Imaging” , a scientific update day that will bring together renowned national specialists to analyze the role of cardiovascular imaging techniques in current clinical practice.

The course will be led by Dr. Laura Galian Gay and Dr. Alejandra Carbonell San Román , head of the Valvular Heart Disease Unit at the Comprehensive Cardiology Unit, and will feature the participation of experts from some of the country's leading hospitals.

The day will be opened by Esther Martínez , Kenneth Planas , the course directors, and Dr. Roberto Martín Reyes , head of the Comprehensive Cardiology Unit , who will welcome the attendees and present the objectives of this edition.

Practical update in cardiac imaging

The main objective of this course is to provide a practical approach to cardiac imaging in routine clinical practice , highlighting its impact on the assessment and management of valvular heart disease, cardiomyopathies, heart failure , and cardiovascular prevention. The course will also review the most relevant recent international developments and their direct application to clinical decision-making.

The activity is especially aimed at clinical cardiologists, cardiac imaging specialists and internists , interested in deepening their understanding of the value of different imaging modalities to improve diagnosis , prognostic stratification and therapeutic selection of patients.

A program structured in three main blocks

Throughout the day, highly topical issues will be addressed, distributed across three thematic areas.

The first block will be dedicated to valvular heart disease and aortic pathology , with sessions focused on the integration of multimodal imaging in aortic stenosis, advanced TAVI planning, mitral and tricuspid regurgitation, cardiac damage associated with valvular heart disease, and risk stratification in thoracic aortic aneurysm.

The second block will focus on cardiomyopathies and ischemic heart disease , reviewing the role of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging in the phenotyping of cardiomyopathies, the assessment of myocardial inflammation and myocarditis, as well as the utility of imaging in patients with ischemia without significant coronary lesions (INOCA).

Finally, the third block will address the application of cardiovascular imaging in cardio-oncology, cardiovascular prevention and heart failure , including topics such as early detection of cardiotoxicity, new Photon-Counting computed tomography technologies, cardiovascular risk assessment, the study of congestion using ultrasound and venous parameters, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction and current applications of artificial intelligence in cardiac imaging.

With this second edition, the Comprehensive Cardiology Unit reaffirms its commitment to continuing education and excellence in care, promoting the exchange of knowledge and the incorporation of the most relevant innovations in cardiac imaging into daily clinical practice.
