Dr. Juan Benezet Mazuecos

Arrhythmia Unit Manager

I am Dr. Juan Benezet Mazuecos, head of the Arrhythmias and Electrophysiology Unit at UICAR.

What is the Arrhythmias and Electrophysiology Unit?

Our Unit is responsible for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of patients suffering from heart rhythm disorders, offering current, effective and safe treatment for different tachyarrhythmias and bradyarrhythmias. To achieve this, we have medical and nursing personnel accredited at the highest level by both the Spanish Society of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology, as well as the technology necessary to offer optimal solutions to our patients.

What is the activity of the Arrhythmias and Electrophysiology Unit?

Our Arrhythmia Unit provides a comprehensive service to our patients, from consultation assessment and clinical follow-up to treatment through the application of interventional techniques and treatments.

Our centers have a Arrhythmia Consultation specific to care for patients with compatible symptoms and/or documented rhythm disorders. In this consultation, an accredited specialist helps the patient understand their pathology and offers them the best alternatives for treatment and follow-up. In addition, they are carried out Device Tracking Inquiries of cardiac stimulation (pacemakers, defibrillators and subcutaneous holter) both in person and with remote monitoring systems.

Our centers have Electrophysiology room for performing invasive procedures for the treatment of certain arrhythmias. These procedures include diagnostic electrophysiological studies, conventional radiofrequency ablations of various tachyarrhythmias, ablation procedures with the use of electroanatomical navigators, and pulmonary vein cryoablation procedures for the treatment of atrial fibrillation. Likewise, our Unit performs implantation of all cardiac stimulation systems (pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization devices).

What is the objective of the Arrhythmias and Electrophysiology Unit?

Our goal is to provide our patients the best treatment and treatment possible, explaining their pathology, showing them the various options and giving them the best recommendations based on scientific evidence and clinical practice guides. Our goal is to offer the best, most effective and safe treatments, and to accompany our patients in the monitoring and/or cure of their pathology.
