Dr. Jorge Palazuelos shares his experience in the treatment of complex coronary lesions at Euro4C 2026

Dr. Jorge Palazuelos , head of the Hemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology Unit of the Comprehensive Cardiology Unit , participated as a speaker and discussionr at the Euro4C 2026 congress , held on February 27 and 28 in Madrid.

This international meeting, organized by the PCR community , brought together European and world leaders in the treatment of calcified coronary artery disease, focusing its program on the most advanced techniques of plaque modification, intracoronary imaging and the approach to complex lesions.

Presentation on calcified coronary bifurcations

On Saturday, February 28, Dr. Palazuelos participated in the scientific session "Plaque modification in different lesion types: nodular, long lesions, tortuous lesions, bifurcations," held in the main hall of the congress. During his presentation, he delivered a talk entitled "How to treat calcified bifurcation lesions," in which he addressed the management of one of the most demanding scenarios in interventional cardiology.

In her presentation, she analyzed the main technical challenges presented by calcified bifurcations, such as proper lesion preparation, optimization of stent expansion, and prevention of complications. She also highlighted the fundamental role of intracoronary imaging—such as IVUS and OCT—in planning and optimizing the procedure, as well as the individualized selection of the plaque modification strategy based on the morphology and severity of the calcification.

Participation in the approach to the calcified left main coronary artery

In addition to his role as a speaker, Dr. Palazuelos participated as a discussion panelist in the session "It is a calcified left main: do it well, do it safely," which focused on the treatment of the calcified left main coronary artery, another of the most complex situations in clinical practice.

During the round table, he shared his experience in planning percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in high-risk patients, emphasizing the importance of a correct anatomical and functional assessment, the use of mechanical circulatory support when indicated, and the application of strategies that guarantee the safety and effectiveness of the procedure.

Commitment to excellence and innovation

Dr. Jorge Palazuelos' participation in Euro4C 2026 reinforced the positioning of the Comprehensive Cardiology Unit as a center committed to scientific updating, technological innovation and excellence in care in the treatment of complex coronary pathology.

Their presence at a leading international forum allowed them to share clinical experience, exchange knowledge with top-level experts, and actively contribute to the debate on the most advanced strategies in interventional cardiology.
