Joel Hernandez

I am Joel Hernández Sevillano, a member of the Interventional Cardiology Unit of the Comprehensive Cardiology Unit (UICAR).

In the Interventional Cardiology Unit, we specialize in the diagnosis of coronary artery disease and its treatment through the implantation of stents and other devices. We also treat other structural heart conditions such as patent foramen ovale and aortic stenosis, among others.

I am also a member of the Clinical Cardiology Unit at UICAR, working in the Cardiology clinic. In the Cardiology clinic, I perform a comprehensive cardiological assessment of patients, with a special focus on managing cardiovascular risk factors, emphasizing non-pharmacological treatment (lifestyle habits) while also considering the need for pharmacological treatment (medication) in patients who require it. To further explore cardiovascular prevention in my patients, I completed a two-year research/care placement at the Center for Cardiovascular Health at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York.
