The Heart Failure Unit at UICAR receives accreditation from the Spanish Society of Cardiology

The recognition of the unit, led by Dr. Teresa Alvarado , adds to the accreditations of Hemodynamics and Arrhythmias, while the Cardiac Imaging Unit is currently in the accreditation process.

The Heart Failure Unit of the Comprehensive Cardiology Unit (UICAR) has obtained accreditation from the Spanish Society of Cardiology (SEC) , a recognition that certifies compliance with the standards established by the scientific society for the care, treatment and follow-up of patients with heart failure.

With this new accreditation, UICAR now has three units accredited by the Spanish Society of Cardiology: Hemodynamics , Arrhythmias, and Heart Failure . The Cardiac Imaging Unit is currently undergoing the accreditation process , further reinforcing UICAR's commitment to the evaluation and continuous improvement of its various healthcare areas.

The accreditation is part of the quality programs promoted by the SEC, aimed at evaluating healthcare processes in Cardiology and promoting care based on criteria of organization, coordination and continuous improvement.

Dr. Teresa Alvarado heads the Heart Failure Unit at UICAR , within the Cardiology Department led by Dr. Roberto Martín-Reyes . The unit employs a specialized care model designed to support patients through the various stages of the disease, from diagnosis and the start of treatment to clinical follow-up and management of potential decompensations.

Unidad de Insuficiencia Cardíaca: atención continuada e integral

Heart failure is a complex syndrome that occurs when the heart is unable to pump blood effectively to meet the body's needs. Its management requires accurate diagnosis , optimized treatment, and ongoing monitoring to assess each patient's clinical progress.

In this context, specialized units allow for the structured organization of care and promote coordination among the different professionals involved in the care of these patients.

The Heart Failure Unit at UICAR takes a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach , with the coordinated participation of specialized medical and nursing professionals. Follow-up allows for adapting treatment to the patient's progress, detecting potential signs of decompensation, and reinforcing health education and understanding of the disease itself.

Tres unidades acreditadas por la SEC y una cuarta en proceso

The accreditation of the Heart Failure Unit adds to those already obtained by the Hemodynamics and Arrhythmias units , so that UICAR currently has three areas accredited by the Spanish Society of Cardiology.

Furthermore, the Cardiac Imaging Unit is in the process of accreditation , thus advancing in the incorporation of a fourth area to this model of evaluation of the quality of care.

Under the direction of Dr. Roberto Martín-Reyes , UICAR continues to develop a model organized into specialized and inter-coordinated units to address different cardiovascular pathologies from a comprehensive perspective.

The addition of the Heart Failure Unit , headed by Dr. Teresa Alvarado, to the accredited areas represents further recognition of the work carried out by the UICAR teams and their commitment to specialization, coordination, and quality of care.
