The UICAR is a pioneer in Spain in using the AcQCross™ transseptal access tool to the left atrium

Dr. Juan Benezet Mazuecos , head of the Arrhythmia Unit at UICAR in the La Luz University Hospital, has used the AcQCross™ transseptal access tool to the left atrium (Acutus Medical, Medtronic ) for the first time in Spain.

This is the first use of this system in our country in two cryoablation procedures for atrial fibrillation.

This system provides multiple advantages to the procedure, among others:

– Simplifies the use of catheters, allowing transseptal puncture to be performed directly with the sheath that we use for cryoablation procedures.

– It incorporates a beveled needle that allows the oval fossa to be pierced easily without applying pressure, which provides safety. It even allows the application of radiofrequency on it for complex cases with more rigid septa.

– It incorporates a high support guide that allows the progression and passage of the cryoablation sheath more easily through the transseptal puncture.

Finally, it allows the procedure to be simplified in a simple way, reducing time and providing safety to the patient.
