The new , state-of-the-art Azurion Digital Angiography system offers coverage for a wide range of diagnostic and interventional angiographic applications.
The La Luz University Hospital , in accordance with its strategic plan initiated in 2021 for the acquisition of high-tech equipment, has renovated its hemodynamics room for complex medical procedures.
The new , state-of-the-art Azurion Digital Angiography system offers coverage for a wide range of diagnostic and interventional angiographic applications.
This Philips system is the result of evolution based on experience to adapt to the present and future needs of interventional techniques using the most advanced technical means.
Interventionism has evolved continuously over the last few decades. Since the beginning, the spectrum of applications and the number of procedures has been growing exponentially in part thanks to the development of new devices, new imaging techniques and the experience of the professionals involved in these techniques.
Regarding the image, the evolution is marked by systems with higher image quality and lower doses. Multimodality is already a reality, images from different modalities such as CT, MRI, IVUS, etc., are integrated into the endoluminal intervention rooms, avoiding the need to repeat image acquisitions for the patient, which are generally accompanied by higher doses and higher intervention time.
The possibility of acquiring 3D images in the intervention room itself facilitates the identification of the optimal projection without the need for a prior angiographic study, allowing perfect and precise guidance of punctures, verification of the absence of leaks in implants, or the creation of implants. safely, quickly and accurately.
“The renovation of the hemodynamics suite represents a major advance for the endovascular treatment of intracranial vascular lesions, especially aneurysms and arteriovenous malformations, allowing for highly precise management. This renovation, along with the hybrid operating room, positions La Luz University Hospital as a leader in the private sector for performing highly complex neurointerventional procedures,” emphasizes Dr. Mario Martínez Galdámez , Head of the Diagnostic Imaging Department at the hospital and a specialist in interventional neuroradiology.
The new system improves areas in Interventional Cardiology in coronary procedures, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), left atrial appendage closure, cardiac arrhythmia treatments, among many others, increasing precision with lower dose and contrast.
“The upgrade to the new interventional suite provides us with a new space equipped with all the necessary technology to treat our patients. Combined with the hybrid operating room, it gives us two perfectly equipped spaces to meet the healthcare demands in our field, including more complex cases,” emphasizes Dr. Juan Benezet , head of the Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology Unit at La Luz University Hospital.
Jorge Palazuelos explains that the opening of the new room will allow the hospital to continue expanding its range of services, offering comprehensive care throughout the diagnostic and interventional process for patients with cardiac conditions , thus broadening the hospital's healthcare capabilities. "The consolidation of services, infrastructure, and professionals with the opening of a cardiac hemodynamics room will have a significant impact on patient care," he states.
