Dr. Felipe Hernández leads the FOCUS EPIC on Complex PCI and coronary calcification management strategies in Madrid.

Dr. Felipe Hernández Hernández, from the Hemodynamics Unit of the Comprehensive Cardiology Unit (UICAR), has successfully organized the FOCUS EPIC Complex PCI event: Strategies for Managing Coronary Calcification , held at the NH Collection Madrid Eurobuilding Hotel.

This specialized meeting brought together leading professionals in the field of interventional cardiology to update and deepen their knowledge of the most advanced techniques for the treatment of calcified coronary lesions. Dr. Hernández, along with Dr. Raúl Moreno, trustees of the Epic Foundation, led the course, which focused on key aspects such as the assessment of calcified plaques, intravascular imaging techniques, and the use of innovative devices such as intravascular lithotripsy and intracoronary laser.

Among the participants, Dr. Jorge Palazuelos, head of the Catheterization and Catheterization Unit at UICAR, highlighted his presentation. He outlined treatment strategies for severely calcified bifurcations. Dr. Daniele Gemma, also from the Catheterization and Catheterization Unit at UICAR, also presented one of the clinical cases in the "Case in the Box" session, contributing to the practical approach that characterized the day.

The activity, designed to be eminently practical, also included discussions of real-life clinical cases and interactive sessions, allowing participants to develop precise and effective treatment strategies for daily implementation in interventional cardiology units.

With events like this, UICAR reinforces its commitment to innovation and excellence in the treatment of complex cardiovascular diseases, consolidating its position as a national benchmark in interventional cardiology.
