March 14, European Day for the Prevention of Cardiovascular Risk

Today, March 14th, is European Cardiovascular Risk Prevention Day , with the aim of raising awareness about the importance of preventing cardiovascular diseases.

At UICAR, we want to emphasize the importance of proper cardiovascular prevention. Cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death in our society, despite the numerous advances in both medical treatment and early diagnosis.

Despite this, it continues to be an important cause of mortality and therefore it is very important that we place special emphasis on the four important points of cardiovascular prevention.

The head of the UICAR department, Roberto Martín Reyes, offers us some recommendations for proper cardiovascular prevention.

The first recommendation is aerobic physical exercise. Mainly, in a moderate, daily amount, it is very important that we also mix it with strength exercises.

The second is diet. The diet of our environment is the Mediterranean diet rich in legumes, vegetables and fruits; and it is very important when carrying out adequate cardiovascular prevention.

The third is to avoid alcohol abuse such as smoking. Very important when it comes to cardiovascular prevention.

And the fourth recommendation is to carry out periodic routine check-ups to analyze and detect the disease early.

All of this together is very important to carry out adequate cardiovascular prevention, just as it is done in other types of diseases and we can jointly reduce the risk associated with this disease.
